Al-Quds Governorate condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ storming at dawn today ( Monday 22nd of November) the house of the Governor of Jerusalem Mr. Adnan Ghaith, in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque. During the raid, occupation forces physically assaulted the governor and members of his family, as well vandalized private property.
The governorate confirmed that the attack was intentional and planned. The assault that the governor and his family underwent highlight the ongoing daily violations of the occupation that Jerusalemites are constantly subjected to. Daily violent and physical assaults are just one example of the pressures that the Palestinian capitol suffering from, along with forced displacement, settlement expansion, home demolitions, tax imposition, economic siege and others.
The governorate emphasizes in serving the city and its residents despite Israel's oppressive measures which target the Palestinian political leadership in a systematic manner . The restrictions of movement and daily targeting, will not discourage them from presenting their national duty towards their land and city. On the contrary, it only increased their insistence on preserving the Arab Palestinian character of Jerusalem.
The governorate warned about the physical assault against the governor and his family, these brutal assaults with impunity along with the policy of summoning, restrictions of movement, all shows the brutal and discriminatory face of the occupation.
The governorate calls on the international community to undertake its responsibilities by putting pressure on the Israeli occupation to stop its arbitrary measures in the city of Jerusalem and targeting its national figures. The governorate also called on Israel the occupying power, to respect the institutions operating in the city of Jerusalem and its national figures.
