 (213) cases of arrest, (35) demolitions and (7069) settlers who stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque have been monitored during the month of August 2022.
The Public Relations and Media Unit in the Jerusalem Governorate issued its monthly report on the violations of the Israeli occupation in the Jerusalem Governorate during the month of August 2022, summarizing the total violations that were monitored during it.
One of the most prominent events that topped the Israeli violations this month was executing the young man "Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Shaham" from the town of Kafr Aqab, by the occupying forces, after they stormed the house of his relatives at dawn, where he received direct bullets in the head and chest from a distance of zero and left him bleeding, and then the occupation forces stole his body, which is still in their custody. This exceeds the number of Jerusalemite martyrs whose bodies are detained by the occupation to 18.
The occupation forces and his intelligence services also stormed the house of the Governor of Jerusalem, "Adnan Ghaith" in the town of Silwan, arrested him and stopped him in the interrogation rooms in what is known as the "Compound" center in occupied Jerusalem, and extended his detention three times to prepare an indictment against him, which exceeds the number of arrests of Governor Ghaith to thirty-five times since he assumed his duties as governor of the occupied capital at the end of August 2018, to be released on August 4 / on the condition of open home detention, which is a judicial precedent that indicates a policy New taken right governor.
As for the settler attacks, during the month of August, the settlers carried out (47) attacks interspersed with (8) attacks with physical abuse, and the month of August witnessed an increase in the frequency of inflammatory calls organized by settler groups to storm the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially in the so-called "anniversary of the destruction of the Temple", which coincided with the seventh of August and was punctuated by the recording of the highest attacks by them.
During the month of August, the Jerusalem Governorate monitored the injuries resulting from the use of excessive force by the occupying forces against Palestinians throughout the occupied capital, where about 17 injuries were detected as a result of the firing of live and rubber-coated metal bullets by the occupying forces, suffocation with gas and severe beatings by the occupation forces and settlers.
As for the challenges and incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Jerusalem Governorate monitored the incursion of extremists into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of August, where (7069) settlers, and (80,653) under the name of "tourist", stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque with the support of the heavily armed special occupation forces, the highest recorded on August 7, when (2,201) settlers stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in commemoration of the so-called "anniversary of the destruction of the Temple", and they committed numerous violations such as singing and dancing, deliberately insulting the person of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), raising the flag of the occupation, attacking the Almoravids, threatening to demolish the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock and expel Muslims from it.
On 28 August, the Israeli occupation forces allowed a group of settlers to enter through the Tribes' Gate (Al_Asbat Gate), one of the gates of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in a violation unprecedented since 1967.
A doubling in the number of intruders is observed in August between 2021 and 2022, with 3,660 settlers being stormed in 2021.
As for the item of arrests, during August, about (213) cases of arrest were monitored carried out by the occupation forces of citizens in the Jerusalem governorate. SO that there is an increase in the number of detainees is observed between 2021 and 2022, with about 115 arrests detected in 2021.
Within the framework of the decisions of the racist occupation court, the racist occupation courts issued (15) sentences of actual imprisonment against Jerusalem prisoners, including (5) sentences of administrative detention. and (12) decisions for home confinement, including (3) decisions for open home confinement, and about (26) decisions for deportation, including (16) decisions to remove from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, in an attempt to control Al-Aqsa Mosque and surrounding places. Travel bans were also handed over to (3) citizens.
The occupation authorities also continued their demolitions during the month of August, including (35) demolitions, including (11) self-demolitions, in addition to carrying out (6) land demolitions.
It is worth mentioning that during the month of August 2021, about (54) operations were monitored, including (23) forced self-demolitions, and (31) demolitions carried out by the occupation mechanisms.
The occupation authorities handed over demolition notices and review notices to the occupation municipality in several neighborhoods and towns in occupied Jerusalem, where (5) demolition notices were delivered to houses in the town of Al-Isawiya, Silwan and Al-Walaja, as well as the removal of asphalt from a road connecting the town of Mikhmas to the shrine and garden of Dweir.
As for the prisoners' file, after the start of the campaign demanding the early release of the prisoner "Ahmed Manasra", the occupation authorities on 17 August extended the solitary confinement against him for an additional 6 months, despite the constant demands for his release due to the deterioration of his health and psychological condition, which Amnesty International described as a "The atrocity is extremely unjust."
In a separate context, the occupation authorities continued their fierce attack against Jerusalem institutions by storming the Jerusalem Crescent Club and the library of Al-Quds University in the Old City on the first of August and tampering with their contents and files. This is in addition to the targeting of journalists with arrest and beatings.
The Jerusalem Governorate also monitored settlement projects aimed at Judaizing the Holy City and obliterating everything that is Palestinian in it, where (9) new settlement projects were monitored, the most prominent of which was the approval of the construction of new settlement units and settlement expansion, including the construction of 1324 settlement units in the settlement of "Gilo" built on the lands of Jabal Abu Ghneim south of Jerusalem, where the new expansion plan will be established on an area of 80 dunums.In addition to another project aimed at building 270 settlement units gradually, parallel to the bridge at the top of the mountain opposite the village of Lifta al-Tahta. Another project seeks to build 1,400 settlement units as part of a new settlement plan east of the occupied city of Jerusalem, and the construction of these units will be in the settlement area of the neighborhood of Tzur and Kibbutz Ramat Raheel. In addition to the construction of 700 settlement units in Givat Shaked, south of the occupied city of Jerusalem.
A new project called "Farm in the Valley" aims to attract Jews from the world to occupied Jerusalem, and the main idea is to offer a special farming experience similar to that of farmers in ancient times.
A new plan was also unveiled that the occupation authorities began to implement as part of their ongoing policies to Judaize the city of Jerusalem and take full control of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by planting more than 25,000 settlers in the Old City by 2030. In addition to many projects that seek to facilitate the incursion of settlers in large numbers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, such as the construction of a huge electric staircase starting from the Moroccans' Gate.
