The Public Relations and Media Unit in the Jerusalem Governorate issued its monthly report on the violations of the Israeli occupation in the Jerusalem Governorate
for the month of May 2022, in which it summarized the total violations that were monitored during May 2022.
One of the most prominent events that topped the Israeli violations this month was the assassination of the journalist "Shirin Abu Aqleh", which was the biggest evidence of the arrogance of the occupation and its violation of all international laws and agreements, and a clear violation of silencing the voice of truth.
Not only was she assassinated, but his ferocity escalated, to invade the funeral, and face all the shoulders that carried her coffin to her final resting place, where his ferocity became facing the Palestinian alive and dead. Except for the arrests and injuries that took place during the marches that condemned the assassination of journalist Abu Akleh.
In the context, the occupation forces assassinated the young Jerusalemite “Walid Al-Sharif” on the third Friday of the blessed month of Ramadan, and the occupation forces prevented ambulance crews from providing him with the necessary aid at the time, and he was left bleeding. Where his immaculate body was delivered two days after his martyrdom. Not only that, but the occupation assaulted the mourners at his funeral.
The Israeli violations against the Holy City do not remain silent, and the occupation does not hesitate to present every day a picture of its brutality and rape of everything that is sacred. On May 29, the flag march was launched with the participation of thousands of extremist settlers, which is linked to the occupation of the eastern part of the Holy City, which was launched The occupation authorities marked it as “Jerusalem Day.” The march of flags began in the early seventies of the last century, but it did not passthrough Bab al-Amud, but rather through Bab Hebron, which is the door closest to the old gates of Jerusalem, to West Jerusalem. Later, the path of the march was lengthened to pass through the Lions Gate, one of the gates of the Old City, but in the years 2010-2016 the Israeli police prevented this path, due to repeated confrontations with the Palestinians, so this path was permanently canceled. Years ago, the number of participants in the march, passing through Bab al-Amud, began to increase.
As for the settlers’ attacks, during the month of May, settlers carried out (84) attacks, including 15 attacks with physical abuse. These attacks focused on the so-called “flags march” held by settlers on May 29.
During the month of May, the Jerusalem Governorate monitored the injuries resulting from the occupation forces’ use of excessive force against Palestinians in various parts of the occupied capital. About 320 injuries were recorded as a result of the occupation forces firing live and rubber-coated metal bullets, suffocation with gas, burns, fractures, and severe beatings by the occupation forces and settlers.
As for the challenges and incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Jerusalem governorate monitored the extremists’ storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of May. (10,468) settlers, including (519) under the name of “tourists”, stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque with the support of the heavily armed special forces.
In comparison with May/2021, in which (1205 settlers) stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, we notice a doubling in the number of intruders in May of this year, by a large difference of about eight times.
As for the item of arrests, during May, about 403 arrests were reported, including 20 women, which were carried out by the occupation forces against citizens in the Jerusalem governorate.
Within the framework of the decisions of the racist Occupation Court, the racist occupation courts issued (11) actual prison sentences against Jerusalemite prisoners, including (2) an administrative detention sentence, the highest of which was an 8-year prison sentence and financial fines against the prisoner "Muhammad Hatem Abu Al-Hawa".
Also, during the month of May, (35) house arrest decisions issued by the occupation authorities against Jerusalemites with the aim of restricting their movement were monitored. They included five days of house arrest and a financial guarantee of 5,000 shekels against the Secretary of the Fatah movement in Jerusalem, Shadi Mutwer, after his arrest during the transfer of the body of the martyr Abu Aqila to the French hospital. The occupation authorities also issued decisions to deport and ban travel, affecting about 41 citizens, including two decisions to deport them permanently from the city of Jerusalem, and those tow citizens are "Mansour Abu Gharbia" and "Murad Al Abbasi". The occupation also handed the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh "Ikrima Sabri" a decision signed by the Minister of Interior of the occupation, banning him from traveling for a period of 4 months.
The occupation authorities continued their demolitions in Jerusalem after they were frozen for about a month and a half. During May, 16 demolitions were carried out; Including (6) forced self-demolitions, and (10) demolitions carried out by occupation mechanisms. It also delivered demolition notices and review notices to the occupation municipality in several neighborhoods and towns in occupied Jerusalem, including demolition notices for homes in Wadi Yasoul neighborhood in Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
And the occupation authorities announced the seizure of (22,000 dunams) of the lands of the town of Al-Sawahrah Al-Sharqiah and Al-Nabi Musa, south of Jericho, in the Muklak Valley area, which extends from east Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, under the name of a “natural reserve.” It also announced the confiscation of an area (54 dunums) of the lands of Al-Tur town to build a settlement road known as the "American Street".
With regard to the prisoners’ file, the Israeli occupation prisons administration continues to abuse and assault prisoners on a continuous basis. During May, the administrative prisoners in the occupation prisons continued their boycott of the Israeli courts, to demand an end to the administrative detention policy under the slogan “Our decision is freedom.” It is reported that it started on 1 January last year. The occupation authorities and prison administrations claim that the administrative prisoners have secret files that can never be revealed, so the detainee does not know the length of his sentence or the charges against him.
In the same context, the prisoner, "Raed Rayan" from the town of Beit Doqqu, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, has continued his open hunger strike since the sixth of April, in refusal of his administrative detention.
In the file of the deliberate medical negligence policy, the so-called Supreme Court of the occupation announced on the 27th of May, its rejection of a petition submitted by the Physicians for Human Rights to perform a nose surgery for the Jerusalemite prisoner, Israa Jaabis, despite the doctors’ recommendation that this treatment is a necessary medical treatment. to her. It is noteworthy that the court's decision came in response to the refusal of the occupation prisons authority to fund the surgical operation of the captive "Jaabis".
With regard to the Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian institutions and sanctities, Abrehaz was, in May, the attack on the campus of the French hospital and its medical staff during the funeral of the martyr "Abu Aqila", as well as their storming of the Church of the Meeting in Beit Hanina, where the funeral home of the martyr "Abu Akleh" was held. sane", and assaulted those present in the mourning house several times in an attempt to remove the Palestinian flag from the place.

The Jerusalem Governorate also monitored the settlement projects aimed at Judaizing the Holy City and obliterating everything that is Palestinian in it. Where private settlement companies and others linked to the occupation municipality in occupied Jerusalem revealed a decision by the so-called “District Planning and Building Committee” to expand the “Jabal Abu Ghneim” settlement, located at the expense of about 90 dunums of land in the towns of Sur Baher and Umm Tuba. This expansion aims to build 344 new settlement units.
The so-called "Higher Occupation Court" also approved the construction of a line for the "airway project" in the city of Jerusalem, after rejecting all petitions against it. It is noteworthy that the project will affect the residents of Wadi Hilweh neighborhood and the families over which the train will pass, and will confiscate private property in favor of erecting its own poles and cables, and will work to strike the commercial movement in the Old City and Bab al-Amoud area - the main commercial entrance - by connecting arrivals to the town with the train line. The Moroccan Gate.
Among the projects that the occupation municipality intends to implement is the establishment of a Judaization project in the so-called “Armon Hanatziv” settlement, which is built on the lands of Jabal Mukaber in occupied East Jerusalem. It is a "conference center" to attract about "3,000 visitors" near the hotel complex in the area.
