3 martyrs, about (400) cases of arrest, (8) demolitions and (8224) settlers stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of October 2022

The Public Relations and Media Unit in the Jerusalem Governorate issued its monthly report on the violations of the Israeli occupation in the Jerusalem Governorate during the month of October 2022, summarizing the total violations that were monitored in the neighborhoods and towns of the Jerusalem Governorate.

During the month of October, 3 martyrs rose in the Jerusalem governorate, where on the first of October the martyr "Fayez Khaled Damdoum" (18 years old) martyred after the Israeli occupation forces fired live bullets directly at him while he was passing by his motorcycle near the Almoravids Mosque in the town of Al-Eizariya, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, which led to his injury with a bullet in the neck and his immediate death.

Uday Tamimi, a 22-year-old resident of Shuafat camp, martyred during a shooting attack near the settlement of Ma'ale Adumim, which is located on large parts of the lands of the towns of Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis, east of occupied Jerusalem, and the occupation also detained his body.

On 30 October, the occupying forces executed Barakat Musa Odeh, 49, from the town of Al-Eizariya, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, after the occupying forces fired direct bullets at him for allegedly carrying out a vehicular attack near the city of Jericho, and detained his body.

This increases the number of martyrs in the Jerusalem governorate since the beginning of this year to 14, and with the detention of the bodies of the two martyrs Tamimi and Odeh, the number of martyrs whose bodies are detained by the occupation rises to 21 martyrs.

One of the most prominent violations committed by the Israeli occupation during the month of October was the transformation of the Anata area and Shuafat camp, which is inhabited by about 150,000 Palestinians, into a closed area from the evening of Saturday, October 8 to October 19, after carrying out the shooting attack on the Shuafat camp checkpoint, and turned it into a military barracks.

The occupying forces deployed their various military divisions at the entrance to Shuafat camp and its military checkpoint, and at the entrance to Anata "which is the other entrance to the camp", and also deployed inside the streets and alleys and prevented the entry or exit of "vehicles and pedestrians" from the entire area. Due to the measures imposed, employees, workers and students were unable to go to work and schools.

In October 2022, the frequency of settler attacks and provocations increased, as settlers carried out more than 67 attacks, including about 11 attacks with physical abuse and 11 attacks on the property of the people, and it is noted that the frequency of attacks increased during the period of the so-called Jewish holidays.

Some (123) injuries were also monitored as a result of the firing of live and rubber-coated metal bullets, severe beatings and attacks by the occupation forces and settlers, including many children and infants, in addition to hundreds of suffocation cases as a result of the firing of poison gas canisters directly in the places of the residents.

The Jerusalem governorate monitored the incursions of extremist settlers into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of October 2022, where about (8224) settlers stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque under the tight protection of the heavily armed special occupation forces.

With regard to arrests, the arrests carried out by the occupation forces have escalated brutally against the people in the Jerusalem governorate, as about (401) cases of arrest of citizens in all areas of the Jerusalem governorate were monitored during October 2022, including (23) women and about (46 children).

In a related context, the occupation courts issued many abhorrent decisions against the people in the Jerusalem governorate, where the racist occupation courts issued (31) sentences of actual imprisonment against Jerusalem prisoners, including (12) administrative detention sentences.

(28) decisions of home confinement issued by the occupation authorities against Jerusalem citizens were monitored, most of which were between 5 days and 10 days. In addition to the issuance of about (47) deportation decisions, including (21) decisions to remove from Al-Aqsa Mosque and (7) decisions to remove from the Old City. And two deportation decisions from Jerusalem.

As for the demolition and bulldozing decisions, the Jerusalem governorate monitored during the month of October (8) demolitions in the occupied Jerusalem governorate, all of which were carried out on a self-imposed basis in several areas of occupied Jerusalem, in addition to a cement closure carried out by the occupation authorities of a house in the town of Sur Baher. Demolition notices were also delivered to several homes and commercial facilities in several towns in the occupied Jerusalem governorate. During the month of October, the occupation authorities handed over decisions to stop construction in the town of Al-Walaja, demolition orders in the town of Silwan, and review notices to the occupation municipality.

With regard to the file of prisoners, prisoners in the prisons of the occupation are fighting a fierce war no less than what is happening outside it, where the administration of the Israeli occupation prisons continues to abuse and assault them continuously, in addition to the policy of medical negligence followed against sick prisoners and prisoners in particular, which has exacerbated the psychological and health situation of the Jerusalem prisoner Azhar Assaf from the town of Al-Jib, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, and therefore the prisoners in Damon prison closed the section and returned meals in protest against this policy, which It threatens their lives and the lives of all prisoners.

The occupation is also fighting a fierce war against education in Jerusalem and attempts to extradite it, where the occupation authorities stormed the secondary schools of faith, conducted an investigation with the children, and searched their school bags in search of the Palestinian national curriculum, causing panic among children and teaching staff. On October 3, the so-called Israeli Knowledge Inspector asked the Jerusalem school administrations to adopt and distribute the "Palestinian curriculum that the knowledge reprints," which is the distorted curriculum. It also carried out many inspection campaigns on the curricula distributed to Jerusalemite students.

The occupation authorities also announced many new settlement projects through which they intend to control the largest possible part of the Holy Land, where the occupation authorities approved (4) serious settlement projects in various areas of occupied Jerusalem, and the foundation stone of the bridge to be built was laid in the Wadi al-Rababa neighborhood in the town of Silwan south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem approved a settlement plan to build hundreds of new settlement units in the settlements of "Pisgat Ze'ev", "Prophet Yacoub", "Ramot", "Ramat Shlomo" and "Gilo", built on the territory of the city of Jerusalem within the territories occupied in 1967.

The occupation authorities have allocated more than NIS 2 million for the opening of a secret tunnel in Mount Zion to turn it into a tourist heritage site to present the Jewish narrative about the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.

It approved the construction of 135 new settlement units, and this step coincides with the continuation of the occupation municipality and settlement associations to plant fake graves in the lands of the town of Silwan and the lands of Islamic endowments south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque near the Umayyad palaces.

Three settlement plans have also been prepared for approval, with a new settlement building, a plan to demolish an existing building and install another in its place, and a third plan a commercial building, all of which will be built along Sheikh Jarrah. Under the plan, the number of settlers will be doubled, specifically in the settlement outpost of Shimon Hatsidized, as well as the buildings and lands seized by the settlement association "Nahlat Shamoon", noting that all settlement projects are in the final stage of issuing building permits.
