A female martyr, 13 demolitions, 323 arrests, and nearly 425 injuries during June 2021

 
 

The monthly report prepared by the Public Relations Unit in Al-Quds Governorate on the violations of the Israeli occupation in the governorate monitored so many violations during the month of June, the most prominent of which was on June 16th , when the Israeli occupation forces field-executed Dr. Mai Khaled Youssef Afana (29 years), from the town of Abu Dis, after live bullets were fired at her at the entrance to the town of Hizma and the occupation authorities still holding her body till today, Along with dozens of bodies previously detained.

 
The Public Relations Unit also monitored the implementation of 13 demolitions by the occupation municipality during the month of June, 9 of which were carried out by occupation mechanisms and 4 others were forcibly self-demolitions. The demolitions carried out by the occupation crews affected Two houses and a commercial facility in Al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan town, a number of commercial establishments in the town of Hizma, 3 agricultural rooms in the town of Al-Isawiya, housing in the town of Mikhmas, a horse stable, a cave in the town of Al-Isawiya, and a tent in Batn Al-Hawa neighborhood in the town of Silwan. It also forced four citizens to carry out forced demolitions for 6 apartments.
 
 
 
The occupation bulldozers carried out razing operations in the town of Al-Isawiya, and another razing operations in the town of Hizma, with the aim of constructing a new settlement road extending one kilometer and with width of 16 meters on the town’s lands. In addition, occupation municipality crews stormed several neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem, including (Al-Bustan neighborhood, Jabal Mukaber town, and Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood) and handed a number of people reports to review the occupation municipality on the pretext that they did not license their homes.
 
As for the injuries resulting from the use of excessive force against Jerusalemites in various parts of the occupied capital: the Public Relations Unit in the Jerusalem Governorate recorded during the month of June; about 425 injuries with live and rubber-coated metal bullets and severe beatings, and as a result dozens of injured were transferred to hospitals for treatment. Hundreds of suffocation injuries were recorded as a result of the Israeli forces firing excessive tear gas canisters. The occupation forces also targeted five ambulances while they were in the area to provide first aid to the injured, as well as journalism field crews present to cover and document the events.
 
As for the arrests: the Israeli occupation authorities arrested 323 Jerusalemites, including 24 women. also issued 46 decisions of deportation during June in the city of Jerusalem, including 5 decisions against women, about 17 of them were decisions for deportation from Al-Aqsa Mosque, 15 decisions for deportation from Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood,  9 decisions for deportation from the Old City, and 9
decisions for deportation from Bab Al-Amoud and 4 decisions for deportation from
the town of Silwan, and the periods of deportation ranged from two weeks to six months. The occupation authorities also renewed a decision to deport the Secretary of the Fatah Movement in Jerusalem, Shadi Mutwer, from the West Bank for a period of six months.
 
 
The Public Relations Unit in the Jerusalem Governorate monitored 34 home confinement decisions by the occupation authorities against Jerusalemites during June. The period of decisions ranged from five days to two weeks. Among the decisions were a decision to house arrest and an open home confinement decision.
 
The occupation courts issued actual prison sentences against several Jerusalemites: 10 arbitrary sentences were observed that led to actual imprisonment, 4 of which were administrative detention decisions for a period ranging between 3 and 6 months. Among them was the prisoner Murad Misk from the town of Beit Safafa, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison.  In addition to a decision to take over his vehicle worth 250 thousand shekels.
 
Al-Quds Governorate monitored the violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of June:  3010 settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the support of the occupation forces and carried out provocative tours throughout it. During the storming period, people and worshipers were prevented from entering Al-Aqsa.
 
With regard to the issue of forced displacement of the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood homes, the occupation courts took several decisions; On June 19, the occupation authorities set the date of appeal in the case of the displacement of four families in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which are (Al-Kurd, Al-Qasim, Al-Jaouni and Skafi) on 2/August/2021 in Supreme Court of Occupation. On June 7th  the so-called legal advisor to the occupation government refused to intervene in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood case, leaving the decision to the Israeli Supreme Court, which puts the neighborhood’s residents - more than 500 people within 28 families – at the risk of actual displacement.
 
In light of the continued targeting of media activities and journalists in the Holy City by the occupation, the so-called Israeli Minister of Internal Security renewed for the fourth consecutive time a decision banning Palestine TV from working in occupied Jerusalem for the fourth time in a row, and the occupation threatened media companies that provide media services not to work for Palestine TV in any way. During the month of June, the occupation forces and settlers assaulted several times on the TV crews while they were performing their work in the occupied capital, injuring a number of the TV crew's correspondents.
 
 The occupation forces continued to suppress the solidarity and activities carried out by the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and the people of Silwan against the policy of displacement and demolition practiced by the occupation
 
 
authorities against them. It also attacked peaceful solidarity vigils in Bab al-Amoud area in support of (Prophet Muhammad PBUH), and suppressed several solidarity vigils and activities in the town of Abu Dis to demand the release the body of the martyr Mai Afana. It also prevented the holding of several community activities. On June 13th , the occupation police prevented the establishment of the popular bazaar that was scheduled to be held in the garden of the town of Beit Hanina and on June 23rd , the occupation authorities informed Burj Al-Luqluq Community Association of a decision to cancel the “Our Village” marathon, which was to be implemented In the displaced towns of Lifta and Qaluniya, the association is threatened with closing down if implemented.
 
The Public Relations Unit also monitored the occupation authorities' announcement of three settlement projects in the city of Jerusalem. On June 1st , the occupation authorities announced a project to establish a settlement neighborhood on the lands of the abandoned village of Lifta in 1948. The plan includes building 268 settlement units on its lands, in addition to a synagogue, a hotel, a museum and a mall. On June 3rd , the occupation authorities announced a settlement plan aimed at changing the features of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and Bab al-Amud area in Jerusalem and transforming it from a “conflict center” to a “vibrant entertainment center ” as to put it through a comprehensive architectural renovation at a cost of “70 million shekels” . On June 7th , a plan was announced to build a new huge bridge at the Mughrabi Gate leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to remove the wooden bridge designated for the incursions of extremist settlers.
