Jerusalem Governorate Warns of a Month-Long Program by Alleged Temple Groups Targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Jerusalem Governorate has warned of a dangerous and systematic escalation targeting the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is increasingly taking on a more aggressive and organized form by extremist "Temple" groups, with official support from the Israeli occupation government and its security apparatus.

The Governorate added that the program announced by one of the so-called "Temple" groups — which includes systematic incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque over the course of an entire month, involving 12 rabbis and heads of Jewish religious institutes under religious and racist pretexts — constitutes a dangerous escalation in the process of Judaizing the mosque and altering its Islamic character. The mass gathering of rabbis also represents a clear violation of what is known as the "Chief Rabbinate" ruling, indicating that these extremist religious groups have begun to overstep even traditional Jewish religious authorities in favor of a colonial agenda aimed at imposing a new reality at Al-Aqsa.

The Governorate emphasized that what makes this escalation even more dangerous is the concurrent introduction of public Jewish religious rituals into the courtyards of the mosque — including settlers holding wedding ceremonies amid dancing and singing under the protection of the Israeli police. This provocative and unprecedented scene clearly reveals the premeditated intention to transform Al-Aqsa Mosque into a site for Talmudic rituals, which represents a blatant violation of the sanctity of the site and its Islamic religious and cultural significance.

The Jerusalem Governorate stressed that these violations would not have occurred without the explicit official support of the so-called extremist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, who gave settlers the green light to carry out their rituals throughout all courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque — not just in the eastern area — marking a dangerous shift in the rules of occupation and a reversal of the established historical and legal status quo.

In light of these developments, the Jerusalem Governorate reaffirmed that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is an exclusive right of Muslims alone, and that no political, religious, or military entity has the right to violate or alter this right. The ongoing violations are part of a deliberate preparation for a broader assault during the so-called “Anniversary of the Destruction of the Temple” in August, and the international community must assume its responsibility to prevent this.

The Governorate also warned that the continued incursions and the imposition of Jewish religious rituals at Al-Aqsa could lead to an explosion of the situation in the city of Jerusalem and the entire region. It holds the occupation government — led by the so-called Minister of National Security — fully responsible for the consequences of these provocative policies that flagrantly disregard all international laws and agreements related to holy sites.

The Governorate called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, the United Nations, and particularly UNESCO, to act urgently to stop this escalating aggression against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Finally, the Jerusalem Governorate saluted the steadfastness of the city’s residents — the men and women who stand firm with their bodies and awareness in the face of Judaization and incursions — affirming that the Islamic right to Al-Aqsa is permanent and cannot be nullified by the passage of time or by the will of the colonizers.
